Not only is it exciting to hear new material from Squarepusher but this new visual concept is fantastic. The integrated LED helmet, booth, and wall will prove to be quite interesting to watch when he heads out on tour. As we previously reported, his new album entitled “Ufabulum” is due mid May via Warp. Not only did Warp share the new video for “Dark Steering” but announced the various products associated with the forthcoming release. We can expect a special edition vinyl, CD and LP-T format (the vinyl and t-shirt are printed in phosphorescent ink), plus there’s more music available in the form of 3 track EP called “Enstrobia” with special CD, vinyl & LP-T editions of the album. The t-shirt is screen printed in phosphorescent and regular ink, so that when the lights go out, the Squarepusher logo is revealed. Sweet! Sumbit your pre-order now!

“Nothing’s too gnarly.” Words to live by. Growing up on a skateboard here in southern California, Danny Way was (is) one of my idols. The guy has pushed himself and the sport forward in ways I never thought possible. This is also the premise of a new documentary on Way called “Waiting For Lightning” directed by Bandito Brothers. The film covers Way’s progression from young street skater to his historic launch over China’s Great Wall, and more. It premiered at SXSW last month and in Los Angeles last night. Have heard nothing but good things.
Way owns some property on Kauai and for years had dreamed of building a mega ramp of his own on the land. Check out the clip below to watch his dream become a reality.
Here’s the trailer for the film.
Who doesn’t love Pac-Man, right? Many back stories and film concepts have come and gone over the years trying to give some context to the story of the 80′s video game icon. This could be the closest thing to a concept that could be developed into a movie. An IMAX 3D interpretation of this would be epic. Cheers to the folks at Steelehouse Productions who made “Project Yellow Sphere” a reality.
Today VICE shared the first episode of their original series called “Discotecture.” The show follows five young designers from different disciplines as they come together to create their vision of the nightclub of the future. It also features commentary from icons of New York nightlife. All brought to you by the good folks at Heineken. Looking forward to the next episode. The concept has me intrigued.
Here’s the trailer to give you a bit more context.
Episode One.
Always a bit hesitant to have any sort of high hopes for remixes of big pop songs but the original left itself open to potential for a diamond in the ruff remix. I am proud to report that we’ve struck gold with Leeds (UK) producer Edwin van Cleef‘s reinterpretation of Usher’s “Climax.” The original is most likely going be a staple of many end of the year charts. Diplo’s production work has proven to be a bright spot in the dance and pop music clash of 2011/2012. Mr. van Cleef has reconstructed the tune and transformed it into an effective tool for any DJ who is looking to lure females onto the dance floor. One of the sexiest house tunes I’ve heard in some time.
EDIT: Looks like the folks at SoundCloud took down the remix so here is another stream. Download the remix here.
In between cranking out original productions and stellar remixes, Edwin van Cleef has been publishing some mixes for all the enjoy over the past few months. The “Show & Tell” mixes showcase his favorite sub-genres and usually include an exclusive. Highly recommended listening.
London design and direction studio Us recently shared their brilliant promo video for Benga‘s “I Will Never Change.” With 960 uniquely cut vinyl records they successfully developed a physical wave form. The pain staking task of measuring, cutting, labeling, and positioning each record must have been quite the process.
