Tis’ the season of giving and we are diving into the archives to share some gems between now and the end of the year. We’re going to start it off with a bang! This could very well could be the best Daft Punk remix to date. A bold statement indeed, but give it a listen and you will be hard pressed to disagree. It flew under the radar for most and was only shared amongst a few blogs and forums since its limited edition white label release back in early 2006. The Adjuster (Johan Rundqvist) of Sweden continues to produce for various labels so make sure to check out his other productions.

Burns - Make Love

Burns is quickly becoming someone to look out for in 2009. Breastfed Records (Mylo and Linus Loves label) has recently added this young producer to their roster. His bootleg “Make Love” has been played multiple times on Annie Mac’s Mashup show and making its way into the playlists of many big name DJs. If you happen to be lucky enough to be in Sydney, Australia on new year’s eve we recommend you take advantage of the chance to see him play alongside Calvin Harris, Miami Horror, and Boys Noize at the massive Harbour Party. In the meantime, give the tune a listen and let us know what you think.

Laidback Luke & DJ Atrak - Shake It Down (DJ Sneak Remix)

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

fgr015_web.jpg

DJ Atrak has made a pretty seamless transition into the dance music from his hip hop/turntablism upbringing. The new indie label he started with Nick Catchdubs (Fool’s Gold) is on the rise with acts like Treasure Fingers and LA Riots in high demand on the remix and DJ circuit. Doesn’t hurt being pals with Kanye West. Atrak linked up with house-meister Laidback Luke and together they spawned “Shake It Down.” Produced in just four hours?! We hear Luke knocks out new productions and remixes in record time. The tune has gotten some significant play in recent months and now gets its official release on Fool’s Gold with a remix from none other than the legendary DJ Sneak.

Here is some feedback from some of the big names canning this track:

“Guaranteed to shake any room to its deepest foundations.” - Erol Alkan

“A complete monster… really massive. It’s like a ‘get out of jail free’ track.” - Tiga

“The best track of the year, ‘Shake It Down’ is my favorite club music. My secret weapon for the 6 last months.” - Brodinski

“This record doesn’t sound new or old, it just feels like dancin!” - Feadz

“Best Hip-Hop/Techno collaboration since Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon 2. Makes me wanna be Joe Pesci to three-peat.” - DJ Mehdi

“Big tune!” - Boys Noize

“Dope track, play it all the times big or micro rooms… just bangin everywhere!!!” - Crookers

“I’m jealous!!! Fantastic track!!!” - Etienne De Crécy

Tiga - Mind Dimension (Youth Attack! ‘Kill the Rhythm’ Remix)

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

“We’re just two kids who got bored one day, re-discovered Daft Punk’s ‘Homework’, got drunk and decided to swap our guitars for synths,” says Lee Dunn and Chris Petty otherwise known as “Youth Attack!” They have remixed tunes from Digitalism, The Ting Tings, Late of the Pier and have provided us with their latest rub of Tiga’s “Mind Dimension.” This one reminds us a bit of The Chemical Brothers sound. Sure to go down well in big room sets. These guys also run a monthly club night called “Kill The Rhythm” in Harrogate, United Kingdom so if you are in the area go out and support. Give the tune a listen and let us know what you think!

Mikix The Cat is the latest artist to be scooped up by the Trouble & Bass crew and Beatproviders. The young producer has been knocking out bass heavy tunes from his home in the suburbs of Paris. Growing up listening to early Kraftwerk, Luke Skywalker’s ‘Miami Bass’ as well as Wu tang Clan led to his 4X4 wobbling bass rave sound. His music is not for the faint of heart. Check it out and let us know what you think!
