Hervé bringing the liquid bass line madness in his latest remix for the first single off The Prodigy’s new full length. This one is going to go down well in the big rooms. Nice one Joshua. Now get on a plane and come to the US to pound our eardrums!!
The first original track from Empire of the Sun has become a staple of many radio and iPod playlists across the globe. When the set of official remixes of “Walking on a Dream” hit the streets we were a bit hesitant. The VanShe Technologic remix really grew on us over the past month or so and definitely stands out from the rest (thus far). Give it a listen and let us know what you think.
The video was shot recently in Shanghai, China. Directed by Josh Logue of Mathematics.
Hotlanta’s Ashley Jones (Treasure Fingers) is making quite a name for himself these days. Check out the recent Q&A he did with Killabeez where he chats about his studio setup, upcoming plans and more. Looking forward to seeing how the live show he mentions materializes after his full length hits the streets. In the meantime, here is a remix he supposedly knocked out on a recent flight for Diamond Cut’s cover of Womack & Womack’s “Teardrops” to wet your appetite.

One of the most overdue Essential Mix debuts comes from the first DJ to mix live on British TV. Greg Wilson made a name for himself as the resident at the legendary Hacienda club in Manchester. Paving the way for the DJ to be the main attraction at clubs there after. He retired the headphones back in 1984 for just over two decades. Only in the last couple of years has he begun making appearances again behind the decks at mega clubs like Fabric. A little history lesson here. Enjoy!

Some amongst the drum & bass community seem to think that High Contrast is selling out a bit by doing a slew of remixes recently for big name pop artists. We disagree. This man is a true talent. High Contrast has done it again. This rub of MGMT’s “Time To Pretend” is going to absolutely destroy dance floors. It was so good that we are going as far as posting a rip from Annie Mac’s recent show to help build some more buzz for this record.

New year brings new music! A label that we are really excited about is Darling Records. Founded by Axel Le Baron and Julien Kourbatoff, Darling Records is a tribute to the amazing French house records from the 90’s. Its no secret that we have an affinity for that sound as well. “Primary School” is the first release (vinyl only) on the label and brings you back to the days of Crydamoure and Roulé. In celebration of the release, Darling provided us with a mega mix of classic filtered French house tunes. Enjoy the mix and go out and buy the record!
Happy holidays everyone. A gift to all of you from Hollertronix co-founder, message board creator, and sometime M.I.A. tour DJ Low Budget to get you in the spirit. The male pop vocalist all star team is represented here (Michael McDonald, Paul McCartney, Donald Fagen, Daryl Hall, Christopher Cross). Goodness from start to finish. If you are in San Fransisco for NYE we highly recommend you go see him play at Rickshaw Stop. Enjoy!

Mnuvrs Mixtape Vault is attempting to continue on where the NLLR Mixtape Project left off. We are hopeful that they succeed. The newest mix in the series comes from Louis La Roché. Although from the UK, you will find that his sound is of the disco-filtered vibe that France laid claim to back in the 90’s. His work is getting a significant amount of airplay on BBC Radio 1 in the past few weeks, with tracks being played on both ‘In New DJ’s We Trust‘ and the ‘Kissy Sell Out Show‘. Although this is a short mix it will give you a taste of what is to come from this exciting young producer. There will be a new Louis La Roché EP entitled ‘Me & Her’ available to buy in early 2009 on Ever After Records. Stay tuned!
Here is an interview Jaymo did with La Roché after a set at Moda:
