Fellow musicologists,

The Internet has enabled the era of user-generated content as we all know. Prime examples of user-generated content are the blogs that a lot of us write and social networking sites and forums that we belong to, which allow easy publishing of and access to information. Our belief is that the volume of blog posts about an album is positively correlated with future sales (kinda obvious to most).

With this being said, we decided to create a group (and write this post) to provide a framework for discussion about how user-generated content influences consumer decision making (buying records, CD’s, and mp3’s) and to create a positive open dialog between mp3 bloggers and independent/major record labels.

First step was to create a group on Facebook to facilitate the discussion. Encourage you to sign up (if you are on Facebook) and voice your opinions, post news related to the subject, talk about your experiences in writing about the music that you love and any interactions you may have had with the labels and artists that you promote.

JOIN HERE!!!

Cheers!
