Basement Jaxx - Rendez Vu (House Moguls Remix)

Basement_Jaxx,_Band.jpg

We are eagerly awaiting the new Basement Jaxx full length that is due later this year. Simon and Felix recently secured a residency at the legendary club Pacha in Ibiza for the summer and a couple of projects are seeing the light of day now. They have co-written and produced a song for 80’s icon Cindy Lauper. Yes, kind of random but you never know. Could be a banger. The track is entitled “Rocking Chair” and will be on her new album released in May. The Jaxx also did a remix for label mate Adele. The tune is called “Cold Shoulder” and has been getting some play on Radio 1 recently.

In order to satisfy our Jaxx addiction, at least temporarily, we came across a solid remix of “Rendez Vu” by the House Moguls. You may remember them from their remix of Daft Punk’s “One More Time.” MSTRKRFT dubbed it as “the best Daft Punk remix ever.” We dont necessarily agree, but it is a great rework of the track non the less.

Louis La Roché - The Peach EP

Louis La Roché (real name = Brett Ewels) came to our attention back in February when his track “Love” was being posted on some blogs tagged as a new production from Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter. Soon there after the 17 year old from Lowestoft (Near Norwich), UK, made a public statement clearing the air. Now that its all said and done, he has properly released a full EP as a free download for all to enjoy. Bangalter would be proud. This thing is chalk full of disco filtered goodness!!

A message from Kanye to the world regarding the upcoming “Glow In The Dark” tour:

“This is not a regular show. I tell people, hey, this show is gonna be crazy and they say, “I bet it is!”, BUT THEY HAVE NO IDEA! People expect me to come with innovative stuff… I’m sure a lot of people expect some neon, lower east side, post everybody dressing like the 80’s stuff or maybe the light up jacket from the Grammies, perhaps the robot girl and light spectacle they saw on Youtube from the European run. The World Is Daft

Since its been confirmed that there will be no official Alive 2007 DVD the legions of robot fans are banning together to take matters into their own hands. “The World Is Daft” is to be a full length film of the Bercy, Paris homecoming gig. This is the same performance where they recorded the show for the Alive 2007 CD. The editors are piecing together bits of fan filmed footage to create a seamless film of the entire performance including the glow in the dark encore that we all love. The footage is synced to the live audio recording to ensure proper sound quality. Although it may make some a bit motion sick, we believe this will be in high demand once its complete. Stay tuned….

French Touch

A couple of gifts for our readers here.

First….for a history lesson in the “French touch” disco/filtered house movement from the 90’s that Guy-Man and Thomas Bangalter were a integral part of you should check Solid Goldberger. Its one of the most focused electronic music blogs on the web. The tracks are all sent in from folks like us who were buying records from labels like Crydamoure, Vertigo, 20000st, We Rock Music, and Roule during this amazing time in house music. If you happen to have vinyl from this era of French house music hit him up and he will post your stuff for all to enjoy. Highly recommended!!

Second….a complete archive of all of the Daft Punk DJ sets performed (when they still did DJ gigs) from the 90’s as well as a few recordings of their early live shows and Alive 2007 tour dates. This is the most impressive archive that we have come across. A big thank you goes out to Kiyoshi for sharing. Make sure you subscribe to his blog so he will share even more!!

Bangalter Love?

So it seems someone is dropping a link to a track called “Love” in the comments section of a couple of major music blogs (clever way to get your music heard). Rumor is that it is a new production from Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk. One source says that Xavier from Justice has confirmed it is true. Probability is low that its really him but we will keep you posted. In the meantime, here it is for your listening pleasure.

EDIT - Confirmed not to be Bangalter. Track is a production by Louis La Roche. Seems that someone grabbed a rip of the track and started posting it on the net referencing Thomas Bangalter. La Roche has provided a high quality version of the track. Download link below is now updated with it.

Treasure Fingers

In a freak accident at a top secret laboratory the DNA of Daft Punk and Prince were combined. Interestingly enough, the result was a tall bearded white man appropriately named Treasure Fingers. Treasure Fingers is actually one of a couple projects that Ashley Jones uses to express his love for all things electronic. He dabbles in hip hop, drum & bass (as part of Evol Intent), idm, downtempo, and more. Based in Atlanta, Georgia and recently signed to A-Trak and Nick Catchdub’s Fools Gold label, Treasure Fingers is a name that you will be hearing often in 08. He is currently on the road DJing extensively in February and March.
