A little late getting this one up but none the less a big thank you to the good folks at Your Army Online for continuing to send us big tunes from the great artists that they work with. This one is a special treat from Trevor Loveys. City Reverb gets the treatment this time around. The track is the second single from the album ‘Lost City Folk’, which is released on September 15th. Mr. Loveys has been keeping himself particularly busy as of late. He co-produced multiple songs on the new Machines Don’t Care album and co-founded a new label with Affie Yusuf called Tragic Magic. The first release is called ‘Drop It’ by Trevor Loveys with a follow called ‘No Time For Fake Ones’ by Affie Yusuf + Loveys. Both will be on vinyl + digital.
The French really understand the balance between audio and visual. Here is a clip from a live set by Etienne de Crecy from his set at the Transmusicales Fesitval in France, last year. Pretty impressive. Thank you to Kanye for the heads up on this one.
This remix is fire!!!! But…unfortunately it will never see the light of day as a proper release or white label. Sebastien Leger has confirmed that it is only a DJ tool for his sets (so if you have downloaded this remix somewhere its not the real thing). He was inspired to do the remix after seeing Daft Punk live himself on their recent tour. He modeled the remix after the mix Daft Punk used for their show. So make sure you go out and see him DJ when he comes to your town and maybe you will be lucky enough to hear him drop this in his mix. From the looks of this video it looks like this track slays dance floors. TUNE!!!!!
We have reached the two year mark here at strictlysocial.com. Its been an amazing journey thus far and we are very much looking forward keeping this thing going for years to come. Thank you to all the readers from across the globe who take time out of their day to check in. Also a big thank you to all the DJs, producers, and labels who send us music to promote on the site.
We have added a new commenting system to the site (you can now leave video comments) so readers can interact with us and each other in new ways! Also, keep an eye out for our upcoming clothing line called Robophonic. Send us an email to get on the list for pre-orders of our first run of shirts and skateboard decks.
Here is some visual stimulation from Radiohead. This video instantly reminded us of a spooky visualization when Aphex Twin’s “Windowlicker” is viewed using a program called a Spectrogram. You can play around with the visualization of Thom Yorke’s face here.
Once again, Fabric compiles another insane cross-genre lineup of electronic goodness. Patchwork Pirates will be banging it out with Sinden, Boy 8-Bit, Starkey, and more! Ears should be ringing for days after this one. Check out the promo mix below for a bit of club/hip-hop flavor to kick off the weekend. Enjoy!
Here is a recent Dave “Switch” Taylor DJ set from back in February at a club called Focus in Orange County, California. The set is mainly comprised of his own productions but he drops a couple of non-Switch nuggets in there as well for good measure. Enjoy!
Hippy-hipsters MGMT are back with another acid inspired video for your viewing pleasure. These guys have been touring non-stop this year. Make sure you check them out if they make a stop in your city. You wont be disappointed!
Tune alert!!!! The Chemical Brothers are back in a big way. Not only have they set out on tour again with their massive live show but have capped off the “Electronic Battle Weapon” series with tenth entitled “Midnight Madness.” Erol Alkan has been using it as the intro to his sets recently and the other lucky few who have copies of this are all raving about it. Pete Tong had the Chemical Brothers on his show a week ago and played the track. This is going to be one of the top tunes of the year! Give it a listen and judge for yourself. A limited run of British test pressings were released today. Get them while you can!!
