Aphex Twin (DJ Set) - Coachella 2008

Big thank you goes out to Paul Devro and Mad Decent for sharing this one. A lot of people were disappointed that Richard “Aphex Twin” James did not do a proper live set with all of his hyper drum and bass gear. Instead he opted for a DJ set that spanned hip-hop, acid house, and drum and bass. We weren’t able to make it this year but it sounds like he still got a warm reception. Enjoy!

    I recorded this, although it’s been fiddled with. Amazing how quickly these things get around. This is basically an mp3 I created a couple of hours after the set because a few people on the coachella message board were clamoring to hear it. It has not been EQ’d at all, and it’s 128k. Since then I’ve done a lot of work on the audio and the result is what is being seeded on various torrent sites. The sound is vastly superior.

    I got Man Man, Hot Chip, Holy Fuck, and Dark Side of the Moon. It was my first time taping anything so I didn’t go as hardcore as I now wish I had. Holy Fuck and this one turned out quite well, I think. The others not so much, but that was more due to really boomy sound in the tents.

    Yeah, they really upgraded the sound systems over the past couple of years. The Daft Punk set in 06 shook the earth! Was amazing!
