Music: Preview And Help Fund Stones Throw Records Documentary “Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton”

Founded by renowned DJ Peanut Butter Wolf (Chris Manak) in 1996, Stones Throw Records has released a steady stream of influential hip-hop/funk albums. The roster (past and present) boasts names like Dam-Funk, J Rocc, James Pants, The Stepkids, Aloe Blacc, J Dilla, Madlib, and Mayer Hawthorne. French Filmmakers Sébastien Bauer and Lucas Blaya have been working on a documentary to tell the Stones Throw story. Piecing together hours of live concert footage, never before seen clips, home videos and imagery.

Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton (This Is Stones Throw Records)” will be released early next year with your help. A third independent documentary filmmaker, Jeff Broadway, has joined the project and launched a Kickstarter campaign to secure the necessary funding to make every Stones Throw fan’s dreams come true. The label is offering up all sorts of cool limited edition sway for donors, including the opportunity for a personal guided tour of the Stones Throw Records headquarters given by Peanut Butter Wolf. The goal is to raise $35,000 for additional shoots and editing. They’re about a third of the way there (at time of press) with just over a month to go (project will only be funded if goal is reached by November 29th).

This is definitely a project we can get behind. Check the preview below and tell your friends.
