Designer and PUMA creative director Hussein Chalayan have unleashed an exploration of motion the likes of which have never been seen.
The release of PUMA’s Urban Swift raises the bar for sneaker design. One could argue that these are indeed a work of three-dimensional art. Chayalan and PUMA developed a shoe based on the popular PUMA Clyde and is the jump-off for something more extraordinary. Crafting a truly unique and sculpturally shoe that expresses the illusion of speed by having been inject molded with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) on it’s quarter and back panels. The concept stems from on Hussein Chayalan’s 2009 ‘Inertia’ collection which broke considerable creative new ground as a statement about the speed of our lives.
Olympian God Hermes, son of Zeus, was lord over transitions, boundaries and travel between the worlds of the mortal and the Unseen. Suffice to say if Hermes were an earthbound mere mortal he’d have copped a couple pair of these.
