Thank you so much to everyone who came out last weekend to our launch party! Was a great night. Blew me away how many people made the trip down to San Diego from LA and Orange County to join us. Really appreciate all the love.
As I’ve noted here before, it’s always a pleasure to get to hang out (in person) with the artists we’ve featured here over the years. Our headliner, The Phantom’s Revenge capped off his recent US tour with a stop in San Diego exclusively for our party. I scooped him up from the airport and we immediately headed for some beers and proper Mexican food to get the night started on the right foot. Over enchiladas and carne asada fries we got to rap about his experiences on the tour, musical influences, and more importantly, his new found love for In-N-Out Burger. Good times.
Fast forward to the event later that night…
Our good friend AVicious made the trip down from LA to transform the Onyx Room stage into a mind bending array of visuals. Each DJ set was accompanied by a custom light show which was blended in real time to the music. Really took things to the next level. Would not have been the same without the visual element. Brilliant stuff. Dynamic duo Tres Dubois started off the night with a killer set that drew the incoming crowd onto the dance floor early. COLOUR VISION stepped up to the decks next and prepped the room with a slew of his own edits and remixes. By the time The Phantom’s Revenge pulled out his first CD the crowd was primed and chanting his name in anticipation. He proceeded to take us on a nearly three hour disco infused journey that left everyone in the room a sweaty mess by the time it was all said and done.
Via our friends at Control-Alt-Delight, here’s a little taste of The Phantom’s set.
Overall, an amazing night. The crowd was really up for it, the staff at Onyx Room were great, and the music was amazing.
Shout out to Onyx Room, AVicious, Tres Dubios, COLOUR VISION, The Mixster, Danny Dilworth, and The Phantom’s Revenge for making this event such a success. Planning for next month’s installment is already underway. Stay tuned!
