Nero - Reaching Out

Nero Channels Both Hall & Oates And Miami Vice For New Single

If you’re a regular reader, it’s pretty clear that dubstep isn’t a genre that has garnered a lot of publicity here over the years. Personally, it’s been difficult to find stuff that really moves me. As a long time fan of the various forms of bass music, I keep an open mind and listen to everything though. The latest single from Nero‘s album “Welcome Reality” definitely caught my eyes and ears. A couple of seconds into the intro for “Reaching Out” and I was locked in. It immediately took me back to the intro of Lifelike’s “Discopolis” (except pitched up a few notches of course). Then the Daryl Hall vocal sample kicks in and I am sold. This works really well. “Reaching Out” has got some funk and soul that I find missing in most dubstep tracks.

The video is a montage of 80′s Miami Vice style imagery. A perfect match. The high speed chopper flying over the ocean shot, bikini clad women getting out of the pool in slow motion, fast cars, and fast life. Gotta love it.

Look for “Reaching Out” on December 18th with remixes by Fred Falke (very much looking forward to that one), Booka Shade, and Wilkinson.
