London’s Blawan (Jamie Roberts) has caused quite a stir with the vinyl only release of “Getting Me Down.” To say it’s in high demand is a bit of an understatement. The limited edition pressing flew off shelves. Got a first taste of this tune in a few DJ mixes over the past few months. Then Joy Orbison did a blend of it on top of The Weekend‘s “The Morning” as an intro to his DJ set at Coachella. Hooked.
It’s organic, stripped down, highly percussive sound paired with a vocal sample from former American R&B star Brandy‘s “I Wanna Be Down” (1994) is brilliant. Can’t get enough of that crisp hi-hat!
